This project is a direct response aimed to address the ever-growing challenges of menstrual poverty, stigma and limited access to sanitary products in poor communities and schools in
Ghana. There are many accounts of many Ghanaian Students missing school and lesson hours because they couldn’t afford sanitary pads. Some are compelled by the circumstance to solicit
help from older men who end up in bed with them in exchange for pads – mostly without protection which results in teenage pregnancy. Others would resort to using rags, T-Rolls and
other unhygienic materials to make it to school or community gatherings. This project is therefore well-tailored to addressing the problems of sanitary poverty. The following are some
of the goals in targeted communities and schools:

  1. Increases Attendance – girls are able to attend school and community gatherings duringtheir menstrual periods without the fear of embarrassing themselves before peers and
    the stigma associated with it.
  2. Improves Hygiene – sanitary pads reduce the risk of infections and unpleasant odors, promoting better menstrual health.
  3. Reduces Dependence – distribution of free sanitary pads eradicates the dependence on older men who take advantage of girls sexually leading to teenage pregnancy.
  4. Boosts Confidence – access to sanitary pads enhances confidence and self-esteem, allowing individuals to participate fully in school and daily activities.
  5. Empowerment & Autonomy – access to sanitary pads give girls and women control over their bodies and lives, etc.
