Eduteen Ghana organizes life-changing volunteer projects and internships in Ghana.

It’s pretty simple really – you decide what you want to do, where you want to go, and when you want to do it. You pay us a fee and we provide you with:

  • Unrivalled staff support before, during, and after your trip
  • A hassle-free approach where everything is taken care of for you
  • A real project with a real impact

Where do I start?

Step 1: Choose a destination and a volunteer/ Internship project

What region would you like to explore? What are the causes you care about? What’s your budget? How long do you want to volunteer for? Ask yourself all these questions and choose the project that best suits you, or if you’re undecided, you can get a personalized recommendation from our experts.

Step 2: Applying

Once you’ve made a decision, fill out our application form and pay a $250 deposit which comes off the total cost.

You can always apply over the phone if you prefer – either way it will take about 10 minutes. We normally recommend applying at least 6 weeks before you’d like to go. However, our staff have been known to perform miracles with short notice, so if in doubt, please give us a call!

Step 3: Confirmation

You’ll receive a confirmation email straight after applying, but we then thoroughly check over your application form just to make sure we have everything we need. This normally takes at most five working days.

You’ll then receive a welcome email and a call from our staff. They will be assigned to you as your personal point of contact to help with everything before you arrive.

Step 4: Pre-departure

Our staff will talk you through everything you need to know before you leave, including your pick-up from the airport, accommodation information, and safety.

We’ll also send you information on applying for your visa if required.

Step 5: Payment

When you apply, you only need to pay a deposit of $250 which is deducted from your balance. We then ask for the full balance payment 2 weeks before your start date or upon arrival. You can pay securely online through our page, send a bank transfer, or pay over the phone if you prefer. We realize that it’s not always possible to pay your fee in one go. That’s why we offer to pay in installments. You can spread the cost of your project by breaking it into smaller payments. Pay as much or as little as you like – whenever you like – as long as your full balance is paid before you travel.

Step 6: Lift off!

We’ll give you a final call or message before you fly, but then all that’s left is for you to board your flight and start an adventure of a lifetime.

Step 7: Arrival and induction

Our staff will meet you at the airport when you arrive holding an Eduteen Ghana sign. They’ll take you to your accommodation and let you settle in.

They’ll then give you a thorough induction and safety briefing so that you get to know the local town and have everything you need. Then on your second day, they’ll introduce you to your colleagues at your placement.

Step 8: Have the experience of a lifetime

Now it’s over to you. You’ll meet new friends, learn new things, and be part of a long-term impact. Our staff will be on hand to help you and you’ll make memories to last a lifetime.

Accommodation

As part of your project fee, we arrange accommodation for you that is secure, comfortable, and close to your placement. Our accommodation options and the culturally immersive experience they offer is just another reason why we’re the top-notch standard in volunteering and interning in Ghana.

Living with a host family

One of the things that makes volunteering and interning in Ghana so worthwhile is the chance to discover a different way of life. By living with a host family, you get to experience something far beyond what you would as a tourist.

Our projects empower you to explore the world, experience different cultures, and truly understand the specific issues in the places you visit. Through our host family accommodation, we offer the chance to live like a local and truly immerse yourself in local culture. In the process, you’ll grow as an individual and broaden your understanding of people.

Your host family will be like a home away from home. Having a warm, caring family to come home to each day is an ideal way to adjust to living in a different country. A supportive home environment gives you the confidence to focus on contributing at your placement and exploring the country. You also won’t be on your own. We have a thriving volunteer community in all of our destinations.

Your room will be modest but comfortable. Host families live in secure houses and neighborhoods and are closely screened and monitored. Our full-time local staff hold regular check-ups, including one right before you move in.

We also ensure they can provide you with quality home-cooked meals. Food is at the heart of a society, so be prepared to eat your fill of local cuisine!

In line with our commitment to being a positive influence in the communities where we work, host families are decently compensated. They are also interviewed for friendliness and to make sure they’re motivated by the right reasons. They will welcome you into their family and home, eager to share their customs and have you teach them about your own culture.

We believe that living with a host family offers an incredible experience that really makes a program with us unique.

Staying in shared accommodation

When host family accommodation isn’t possible, we arrange shared volunteer accommodation. This is often the case at our Conservation Projects, where you’ll be living in the heart of places like wildlife reserves or rainforests.

Our shared accommodation is usually apartments or guesthouses which you’ll share with other volunteers. This is the perfect opportunity for bonding with volunteers from around the world and building a network of international friends.

Your accommodation will be clean, safe, and comfortable. A chef will cook your meals each day, giving you the chance to connect with local culture through food.

Various accommodation options

For some of our projects, you can choose between various accommodation options. This includes host families, shared accommodation, hotels, or guest houses.
